Why don’t you just plant trees to remove carbon?

UNDO is focussed on permanent carbon removal. While there are certainly benefits to afforestation and reforestation projects, the removal time frame is shorter than we need it to be (about a hundred years, as CO2 is only sequestered for the life of the tree) and can be quite unstable, through factors such as forest fires.

Enhanced rock weathering offers a permanence of 100,000+ years, and carries a very low risk of the CO2 it removes being released back into the atmosphere. Not only does this have a significant impact on the environment - it also adds to the value of the carbon removal credits generated by our operations, meaning we can deliver a truly effective climate-change solution.
