Carbon removal, coupled with rapid decarbonisation across all societies and sectors, has massive potential to curtail climate change. If all emissions were to stop today, global temperatures would still continue to rise due to the existing levels of greenhouse gases present in the atmosphere. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) made clear in their most recent report that carbon removal is an essential part of addressing, and halting, global warming.
