In nature, rock weathering removes atmospheric CO2 across hundreds of thousands of years. By using a much finer and smaller rock, enhanced rock weathering accelerates the process to just decades (for basalt) and years (for wollastonite). The rock starts weathering as soon as it’s spread and usually removes its full carbon potential within its twenty-year (for basalt) and two years (for wollastonite) lifetime.
